We see it all over TV, the internet, the magazines, sheesh, some of us see it in more "exotic" places. Today's typical man seems only to be interested in the woman with the straight long hair, fair skin, exotic features, perfect body, and style to match. Funnily enough, most women aren't naturally made that way, so what's a girl to do? Simple really. We damage our own hair with extensions, starves ourselves, augment our skin, and spend money we honestly don't have to meet these expectations, that's all. Oh yea, lets not forget the self-loathing, the debt, the pettiness, the vain-glory, and the time spent on the exterior while the interior dies. So much time spent looking "picture perfect" and for what? many of us who fall victim to the vain culture we live in rarely ever get "chosen" anyway or in other words, made into anything more than objects of lust. That hot tottie, that sexy woman, that mamma jamma for my old school cats, remains just an object to be used for sexual gratification (other than for the occasional cocktail party, get together to make his friend wish he had her on his arm, and the college reunion).
DID YOU KNOW???
- studies show that women with breast implants are three times more likely to commit suicide
- Another study of mass media magazines discovered that women’s magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men’s magazines did
- A study of 4,294 network television commercials revealed that 1 out of every 3.8 commercials send some sort of “attractiveness message,” telling viewers what is or is not attractive
My sisters, what has happened to us? Has our zeal for a position above degrading sexual servitude died out with the women's suffrage or the flapper movement of the 1920s? Are we made simply to just "look" appealing? I know the pressures of the media, men, and other people is powerful. I know it's not easy to be comfortable in the skin you're in but know and understand that physical attractiveness pushed by today's society is overrated. Please don't get me wrong, i have nothing against desiring to look nice or feel beautiful, I WANNA LOOK AND FEEL BEAUTIFUL these should NOT be the most pressing desires of our hearts. I should also mention that the standards of beauty changes, alot, we just get so caught up in keeping up wit h the changing beauty tend that we don;t realize it so what is the point? This obviously cannot be beauty in its rawest form. You want to know what TRUE beauty is? True beauty is characterized by goodness, kindness, wisdom, humility (not self-degradation), intellect, patience, and compassion, among other things. True beauty comes from within. If its a man you seek, a real man will recognize true beauty when he sees it. Forget a man, the world will recognize your beauty. Let inner beauty be your first goal, its only then will your appeal be everlasting. Physical beauty expires but inner beauty comes with a built-in fountain of youth.
